Salliann Putman NEAC (b. 1937)

Salliann Putman was born in 1937 and having attended teacher training college in Bristol she spent the period up to 1988 as an art teacher in London and Surrey.

In 1988 she enrolled at the West Surrey College of Art and Design in Farnham, graduating with an honours degree in Fine Art in 1993.

In 1999 she was elected a member of the New English Art Club (NEAC) and a year later she was elected to the Royal Watercolour Society.

Her recent work has become increasingly abstract, describing herself now as an intuitive painter seeking to express her feelings. “Subject matter is of little importance, it is the abstract qualities of colour, mark and space that are the real content of the work.”

Amongst other awards Salliann Putman has won prizes at three NEAC Exhibitions, in 2006, 2014 and 2023.
